Abstract:

This grant pertains to finding novel approaches for storage of platelets for transfusion. Our project proposes to determine the efficacy of using a pathogen inactivation technique Mirasol coupled with a platelet additive solution PAS to extend the life of stored platelets. Our project also aims to determine how long acceptable platelet viability can be maintained in platelets stored at 4C.
