Corporate Author:
AIR FORCE FLIGHT TEST CENTER EDWARDS AFB CA
Report Date:
1973-10-01
Abstract:
This report presents the results of the evaluation of the Malfunction Detection, Analysis, and Recording subsystem MADAR conducted at the Air Force Flight Test Center. The MADAR subsystem provided a valuable tool to crewmembers and maintenance personnel in detecting and isolating malfunctioning equipment even though it was in development throughout testing was not entirely finalized at the termination of AFFTC testing. Further testing should be conducted when problems with the MADAR hardware and computer programs are resolved. An integrated test using the onboard MADAR and ground processing system GPS could not be accomplished due to lack of a GPS at AFFTC. This report also indicates some of the obstacles and shortcomings associated with evaluating a system such as MADAR in the hope that this information may help those who evaluate the next generation of malfunction detection systems.
