Abstract:
Tests were conducted to establish fast cook-off characteristics of the following guided weapons 1 SIDEWINDER AIM-9, 2 WALLEYE MARK 1 MOD 0 , 3 SPARROW III AIM-7, and 4 SHRIKE AGM-45A. The type of reaction that occurred, the time to reaction and time-temperature data were obtained for each guided weapon when engulfed in fire from burning JP-5 fuel. These data are applicable to the design of thermal protection systems and the development of safer fire fighting procedures.
