Abstract:
The Post-Operations Data Analysis Facility PODAF is intended to fulfill a vital liaison function between the Underwater Range and its customers. This involves the reduction and reformating of position data provided by the Range sensors into a form most useful to the user and even more importantly in the case of tactical exercises, to combine the Range data with information provided in the form of at-sea records by the exercise participants to generate a coherent statistical and narrative description of the operation. The approach taken here has been to outline a series of data packages or information modules, each describing a separate aspect of an exercise or test on the Underwater Range. These modules can then be combined as appropriate to the particular operation to create a more or less standardized operations report. This paper focuses on those modules appropriate to tactical exercises. Author
