Abstract:
The work involved the employment of novel circuit design techniques to achieve mass-produced integrated inductorless bandpass amplifiers with adequate response selectivity and stability at minimum power consumptions. Low power linear circuit design techniques and root sensitivity cancellation were explored and employed. An active RC scheme employing sensitivity cancellation was developed. This RC scheme based on the Wein Bridge topology has the theoretical potential for power savings of greater than an order of magnitude over conventional circuits. To date, this potential has not been fully realized, due to uncancelled sensitivities to passive component variations caused by amplifier impedance variations. A topology is presented which compromises power savings to overcome the problems of sensitivity to passive components, and which has the potential for halving the power requirement of conventional Wein Bridge topologies. Avenues of study are indicated which could lead to a topology allowing power savings nearer to the theoretical maximum. Author
