Title:
Liquid Monopropellants Burning Rate of Nitromethane.
Corporate Author:
NAVAL ORDNANCE LAB WHITE OAK MD
Report Date:
1953-06-01
Abstract:
The burning rate of nitromethane was determined by a technique analogous to that which has been used with solid propellant strands. A description of the method and the apparatus is given in the text. This report gives the burning rate of nitromethane over a range of pressures to a maximum of 15,000 psi. Purified nitromethane is shown to burn more rapidly than the less pure commercial grade product. With both grades of this liquid, the burning rate varies in an unexpected manner with change in pressure at approximately 1500 psi. This is shown by a hump in the burning ratepressure curve. Author
