Report Date:

Abstract:
An experiment has been performed at the AFWL Cedar City Utah Test Site to determine methods of measuring in situ dynamic rock modulus and attenuation properties as a function of depth, to study the feasibility of using explosive slurries, ammonium nitrate, and black powder as energy sources in the direct-induced high-explosive simulation technique DIHEST, to determine the effect on free-field stress wave form of the various explosives and attendant energy coupling techniques, and to study explosive scaling and geometry. A description of the experiment and its instrumentation and the results of the measurements performed during each test are presented. Author
