Title:
Reducing the Vulnerability of Sewage Treatment Plants.
Corporate Author:
WEGMAN (LEONARD S) CO NEW YORK
Report Date:
1965-04-01
Abstract:
This guide describes characteristics of typical modern sewage treatment plants in the United States, reviews their relative vulnerability to nuclear effects and considers protective measures. For this guide, OCD has established the effects of 2, 5, and 10 psi overpressures as the reference planes for vulnerability assessment and for planning hardening. Economic aspects of varying degrees of protection are included, along with emergency pre-attack procedures. Post-attack plant operation, repairs and reconstruction are also discussed. The Architect-Engineer will understand that this guide is intended to acquaint the profession with various facets of the problem and to provide direction toward the solution of the more typical aspects. The guide should supplement the competent professional judgment of the Architect-Engineer in solving problems for a particular sewage treatment plant.
