Abstract:
A program to improve the surface stability of nickel-base turbine blade alloys is described. Additions of rare-earth type elements and Manganese were made singularly and in combination to cast Rene 100 and wrought Unitemp AF- 2-IDA alloys. The results indicated that certain reactive metal additions are effective in improving surface stability but tend to degrade mechanical properties.
