Abstract:

This brochure is to serve as a guide for flashblindness training given in the F-4C flight simulator. A discussion of flashblindness effects is included. Instruction for six flashblindness exposures illustrating various aspects of nuclear weapons flash are provided. Flashblindness caused by any other source for example, lightning is also possible. Design and a description of the Flashblindness Orientation-Training FOT device which has been developed is presented. Purpose of the FOT device is to provide training and experience for pilots who may be exposed to nuclear flash, the principle cause of flashblindness it causes an individual to learn his subjective reactions and permits demonstration of countermeasures to mitigate flashblindness effects.
