Abstract:
This report documents work done on shock propagation in heterogeneous materials during Phase II of the Radiation Damage Study RADS Program. It presents analytical models for wave scattering in elastic, hydrodynamic media containing randomly spaced spherical and cylindrical inclusions. A computer code, FURRY, written to evaluate these models numerically is described, and a FORTRAN listing of the code is provided. The results of a parameter study are given in which the attenuation, dispersion and pulse propagation characteristics of idealized heterogeneous media are predicted as a function of material properties and initial stress loadings.
