Abstract:
A parametric analysis is used to develop feasible backpacking-structure configurations and to determine the effect of backpacking on the responses of the protective structure and the in-structure shock isolation systems for advanced missile launch and launch control facilities. The initial phase of the study determined the effectiveness of backpacking in attenuating the structure motions and in reducing the peak stresses and peak accelerations in the structure. The second phase investigated the response of various shock isolation systems to structure input motions from preferred backpacking-structure configurations and assessed the effect of backpacking on shock isolation. Computer codes were developed for analyzing the dynamic response of the backpackingstructureshock-isolation system configurations. Author
