Abstract:
This paper presents a technique for measuring instantaneous average heat transfer coefficients between a container and its gaseous contents using pressure and pressure time history measurement of transient temperatures is not required. This technique was used to measure heat transfer coefficients between an injected gas and the container walls. The results showed that immediately after injection, the average heat transfer coefficient, h, is much larger than the free convection prediction equation yields. This large difference quickly decays to the h predicted by standard free convection techniques. Author
