Report Date:

Abstract:
The ANTMQ-19XE-1 is a developmental automatic atmospheric sounding set that functions as a combined passive angle-tracking S-band radio theodolite, an S-band telemetry receiver, and an active X-band radar ranging system. Signals are received from an airborne radiosonde, recorded, displayed, computed, and finally transmitted to user units by radio or conventional landlines. The information is used by artillery units to make corrections for atmospheric conditions in plotting trajectories of conventional projectiles, missiles, and rockets. Other applications are to air navigation and weather forecasting. Housed in an S-375 shelter, the tracking equipment and its ancillary data-processing equipment weigh 5,500 pounds and are transportable by air or ground vehicle. Author
