Title:
EFFECT OF GALACTOSE ON DYE BINDING WITH PROTEIN,
Corporate Author:
ARMY BIOLOGICAL LABS FREDERICK MD
Report Date:
1965-05-06
Abstract:
The objective of the research was to demonstrate indirectly, by using coloring matter, the binding of sugar and protein with regard to sugar binding protein obtained from the placenta, and to obtain some information on the area of binding of sugar and protein. It was found that the protein taken from the placenta which binds with sugar, binds the methylene blue, and this binding is antagonized by galactose. Also, the site of binding of coloring matter with protein is believed to be histidine.
