Abstract:
A model compound, p-n-nonylphenoxydecaethoxyethanol, representing the nonionic surfactants of the alkylphenol-ethylene oxide condensate type, was synthesized in several steps starting from phenol. The homogeneity and purity of the synthetic crystalline detergent was confirmed by physical and spectroscopic methods.
