Abstract:

Visits to three Italian research groups are reported. All are engaged in research on tribology, friction, wear, lubrication or on related materials research. Work in progress is described relative to present state of Italian technology, with consideration being given to the highly accelerated growth rate. Organizations include one government-supported, one government-sponsored but industry-supported, and one fully industry-supported. A listing of Italian tribologists is appended as well as references wherein specific research results are reported. Author
