Abstract:

The method of tracing a satellites orbit on a rotating Earth has been outlined. A spherical Earth is assumed, and perturbations due to oblateness have been neglected. Auxiliary tables and graphs have been prepared showing relations between the in-plane and geocentric coordinates. The method has been applied to the case of a 24 hour satellite in an orbital plane with inclination i 60 deg., and having the eccentricity e .6. Eight different positions of the perigee have been investigated and results are presented in tables and graphs. Author
