Abstract:
The effects of interaction between radiation and convection on wall temperature in steady laminar boundary-layer flow over a diffuse gray flat plate with constant heat flux are considered. The gas is an absorbing-emitting gray gas with significant viscous dissipation. The energy equation, including an integral term accounting for gas emission, self-absorption and a variable absorption coefficient, is solved by successive approximation using the temperature with negligible interaction as the first approximation. Wall temperature with interaction agrees with published results. The effects of seven parameters on wall temperature and on interaction are presented graphically and the causal physical mechanisms are discussed. Author
