A GEOACOUSTIC SURVEY OF THE BRAZOS RIVER. PART I. ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES,
Corporate Author:

Report Date:

Abstract:
Acoustical measurements in the field required careful attention to measurements of environmental parameters in order to define the conditions prevailing during the acoustical studies. Data were obtained in support of acoustical experiments measuring transmission loss due to suspended sediment and acoustic backscatter from the river bottom. These experiments were conducted in the lower reaches of the Brazos River near Houston, Texas. The environmental studies included the hydrographic measurements of water level, current, temperature and salinity as well as measurements of suspended sediment concentration and grain size distribution, bottom topography and bottom sediment composition, grainsize distribution, layering and gas content.
