Abstract:
Heats of combustion of polyvinylidene fluoride PVF and polypropylene film have been measured as auxiliary quantities needed in the determination of the heat of combustion of a boron-containing compound. The results for PVF compare well with literature data. Heats of mixing of aqueous hydrochloric acid and aqueous hydrazine dihydrochloride with aqueous hydrazine were measured in order to derive the heat of formation of aqueous hydrazine and dihydrochloride. The result was appreciably different from previous values and necessitated the recalculation of the heat of formation of chlorine pentafluoride. Implications of the new value for combustion calorimetry are also discussed. Author
