Report Date:

Abstract:
The transient voltage suppressor is a device intended to be mounted in a tracked vehicle and is connected in the electrical circuit between the vehicle power source and the installed radios, primarily those employing semiconductor devices, to protect the radios from overvoltage damage. A total of 982 suppressors, representing three different models, were distributed to five major units for evaluation. Frequent temporary loss of radio communications noted in the operation of the suppressors negates their usefulness for field use. Author
