Title:
DEVELOPMENT OF BATCH CONTROL TECHNIQUES FOR SYNTHETIC LUBRICANTS USING THERMOANALYSIS.
Corporate Author:

Report Date:
1968-01-01
Abstract:
A thermoanalysis program was conducted to characterize six synthetic lubricant formulations by their physico-chemical reactions using differential thermal analysis dta and thermogravimetric analysis tga. The samples were heated at predetermined rates from room temperature to complete reaction at approximately 500C. These studies were carried out in oxygen, air and argon. Kinetic analysis was conducted since the rate parameters also provide a sensitive index for characterizing materials. Computer techniques were employed in the kinetic treatments. The results showed that the dta and tga methods were very effective in distinguishing and characterizing the lubricants. Author
