Title:
THE EFFECTS OF MASS TRANSFER ON THE COMPRESSIBLE LAMINAR BOUNDARY LAYER STABILITY AND HEAT TRANSFER AT M-5,
Corporate Author:
GENERAL DYNAMICS/ASTRONAUTICS SAN DIEGO CA
Report Date:
1954-10-27
Abstract:
The report investigates the possibility of maintaining laminar flow and lowering heat transfer rates at M 5 by means of continuous injection of air into the boundary layer. It was found that laminar flow is theoretically possible for the mass transfer parameter investigated for wall-to-stream temperature ratios less than 1.45. The heat transfer rate is reduced appreciably from that of laminar flow. Author
