Abstract:
Research into the rate of expenditure patterns of contracts for missile weapon systems items indicates that the great majority of such effort can be accurately described by curves of the general form of the logistic curve. Three master production curves presented in FATE describe the expenditure patterns for items of missile airborne hardware, solid propellant motor loading, and ground support equipment. Through the three master production curves, FATE provides a means of forecasting cost to the end of the contract provided a firm delivery schedule is known, forecasting increases in cost due to schedule stretch-out or schedule telescoping, and forecasting a total program cost for an item of hardware.
