Abstract:
This report covers the effort applied during the second three months of the subject contract which is directed towards the integration of thermionic converters and other electrical accessories into a radioisotope generator system. During the second report period the design of the power conditioner was completed and the regulator circuit proven with a breadboard. The prototype model is being assembled. The interconnecting lead was analyzed and a satisfactory geometry selected. Components for the thermionic converter were modified for improved performance. The system container was analyzed with particular emphasis on the generator system weight. Considerable effort was directed to the successful design of a redundant-seal feedthrough and the requirements of accurate control of cesium pressure. Author
