Title:
STANDARD LAUNCH VEHICLE-1B WIND CORRECTION PROGRAM (WINDCOR).
Corporate Author:
AIR FORCE SPECIAL WEAPONS CENTER KIRTLAND AFB NM
Report Date:
1966-11-01
Abstract:
This report concerns the problem of wind effects on a spinning, unguided vehicle during the first few seconds of flight. AFSWC has written a digital computer program that will evaluate wind profiles at launch and will calculate a launcher setting that will compensate for these wind effects on this type of missile. The last four launchers in the Standard Launch Vehicle-1B program used this wind-compensation program with complete success. Each vehicle met the important objective of flying within a designated corridor established by Range Safety and into an area in space designated by the experimenter. Based on the results achieved, the authors feel that the method of approach used in solving the wind effects problem is valid for other unguided vehicles of similar configuration. Author
