Corporate Author:
PUBLIC HEALTH RESEARCH INST NEW YORK
Report Date:
1973-07-12
Abstract:
The application of an immunological approach and of serological techniques to problems of drug addiction has yielded tangible and practical results as well as encouragement for further investigation. The authors have established the validity of the hemagglutination-inhibition test for the detection of morphine and have shown the sensitivity and reliability of this test to be equal or superior to alternate procedures that require costly instrumentation or reagents. The successful application of the assay procedure to the detection and measurement of methadone and the cocaine metabolite ecgonine has been described and documented. Antisera reactive with amphetamine and barbiturates have been prepared and are ready for testing. Modified author abatract
