Report Date:
1973-12-01
Abstract:
The report is on the weathering and weatherability of three types of igneous rocks granite, nepheline syenite and lamprophyric dyke which is carried out by means of laboratory tests. For this purpose an apparatus was constructed in order to obtain hot conditions alternating with room temperature and also with wet conditions by immersion in two types of liquids distilled water and a solution simulating sea water. From the research covering one year of laboratory work, some conclusions are presented, regarding The action of dry tests heating and cooling alternating on rocks, the action of wet tests with distilled water and saline solution on rocks, and an attempt of application of an alterability index of rocks.
