Abstract:
Well timed defoliation of cotton plants is one of the important factors facilitating successful harvesting. This is substantiated by the experiment of the numerous enterprises of the republic conducted over the past year. Thus, at the Five-Year State Farm, Tashkent Oblast, Uzbek Republic, defoliants were used on four thousand hectares. Calcium cyanamide, butyphos and magnesium chlorate were used in this experiment. Owing to the timing and high-quality work, more than 85 of the leaves dropped which enabled machines to gather up 90-95 of the yield. Conducted at the optimum period, defoliation facilitated the rapid completion of harvesting.
