Abstract:
To illustrate a functional application of the adage keep it simple, a research contribution to the fields of expected value modeling and aircraft sortie rate analysis is presented. Included is a discussion of the theoretical bases for a sortie rate model developed to provide answers to a number of analytical questions associated with AV-8A evaluation. A detailed account of model validation through the use of data collected during a ten day exercise is presented. Estimation by the model of a minimum sortie rate capability for a twenty plane squadron operating in an expeditionary role for thirty days is also discussed, and a number of exercise facts and figures are summarized.
