Abstract:

The authors consider installations in which ordinary and oxygen-enriched air is heated to high temperatures by a heat recovery system in independent combustion chambers. They analyze the effect, on the overall efficiency of electric power stations using MHD generators, of factors such as the composition and preheat temperature of the combustion support, the unit power consumption of working fluid of the MHD generator, the load factor of the MHD generator, the intensity of magnetic induction, etc. The authors compare the power of the MHD cycle and of the steam-turbine section in different power station designs.
