Title:
The Failure of Mil-P-18177C Laminates at Elevated Temperatures in a Fuze Application,
Corporate Author:
NAVAL ORDNANCE LAB WHITE OAK MD
Report Date:
1972-06-14
Abstract:
FRPepoxy MIL-P-18177C laminates have failed, due to flow of the resin component, when used in the Friction Washer for the FMU-83B Fuze. Tests indicate that these laminates could fail at temperatures below 54 C 130 F and possibly even at normal storage temperatures. MIL-P-18177C laminates are not suitable for use in ordnance fuze applications requiring compression loading and exposure to elevated storage temperatures. Author, modified-PL
