Abstract:
A probabilistic event-step computer simulation of a repairable item inventory system with exponential inner-arrival times between demands is constructed. The model allows for a wide variety of repair times and lead times to be considered. The major parameters are investigated for their sensitivity to system changes in order to help the user evaluate given or proposed inventory policies and parameters. A complete description of the model is presented and various measures of supply performance such as the expected number of unit years of backorders per unit period and the fill rate are provided. All flow charts and the GPSS360 program listing are included. Author
