Title:
Thermal Constants at High Temperatures. III. The Anomalous Thermal Expansion of Bismuth, Zinc, and Cadmium near the Melting Point,
Corporate Author:
FOREIGN TECHNOLOGY DIV WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB OHIO
Report Date:

Abstract:
Since a certain amount of information exists relative to the unique anomaly of thermal expansion of bismuth, the authors undertook the task to explain whether or not zinc and cadmium display this anomaly. All measurements were made on a dilatometer with precesion temperature control. In bismuth the anomaly begins already approximately by 40 degrees C, and in zinc and cadmium approximately by 10 degrees prior to melting.
