Title:
Some Statical Results for Inventory Models with State-Dependent Leadtimes,

Abstract:
In a recent paper by the present author and Donald Gross, a mathematical model was presented for a continuous-review s,S model with state-dependent leadtimes in which the order-filling portion of the leadtime was assumed to be a random variable which depends upon the number of outstanding orders at the instant that order filling is inaugurated. The current paper presents some new statistical results in support of the prior inventory model. First, sequences of statistical tests are indicated to determine the extent of the state dependence from observed data, and then the author considers the estimation from waiting-time data of the service distributions for the state-dependent MG1 queuing model underlying the inventory model. The data are generally available to to the inventory modeler in the form of the reorder leadtime, and since the leadtime is the sum of the wait in the order queue and the service time, the motivation for the latter problem can be seen.
