Abstract:

Cold-work is shown to have marked effects upon the magnetic properties of nickel-zinc ferrite. The effects can be rationalized in terms of residual elastic stresses together with the appearance of a stress-induced phase change. Polishing appears to have a more severe effect than granding, which may reflect a difference in the deformation characteristics of the two processes.
