Title:
State-of-Charge Indicator for Zinc-Mercuric Oxide Batteries
Corporate Author:
RADIAN CORP AUSTIN TX
Report Date:
1972-03-01
Abstract:
The feasibility of using a short duration, high current, constant voltage pulse charging technique to predict the state-of-charge of zinc-mercuric oxide cells and batteries was examined. The approach used in the study was 1 determine the test parameters which provided the greatest variation, 2 construct a standard curve for each battery and temperature, 3 test unknown batteries and match their test response to the standard curve, and 4 discharge the unknown batteries to determine their true state-of-charge at the time of the test. The results were extremely encouraging. Even though only a feasibility study, the technique was able to predict the state-of-charge with a standard deviation of only 6.7.
