The report is concerned with the development and evaluation of techniques of utilizing Side-Looking Airborne Radar SLAR imagery for engineering soils studies. The primary objective was the development of a systematic SLAR image interpretation technique. Secondary objectives included an evaluation of methods for quantification of SLAR image textures and radar shadows. SLAR images from a variety of physiographic regions within the United States were evaluated. Systems operating at several wavelengths were represented in the study. Field checking was performed for several of the study sites.
