Abstract:
Critical flutter and divergence parameters are obtained for trapeziform bracket plates with different swing amplitudes and various ratios of parallel sides, placed in a longitudinal gas stream. As an example, the effect is shown of an arrow-shaped rhomboid bracket plate on critical flow rate. A Lagrange equation is given for minot vibration in a thin plate caused by transverse loading, followed by formulas for stability of plate shape and relation to stream parameters, including matrixes of potential and kinetic energy, plus nonconservative loading. Critical flow parameters are tabulated for right-angle trapezoid plates, and vibration forms are illustrated for one such shape. Critical flow parameters for a rhomboid plate are plotted on graphs in relation to sagittal angle of a rear plate edge and of a forward edge. Author
