The article gives the results of primary investigation of the severe toxicity of certain fluorinated aromatic compounds -- monofluorbenzene, ortho-, meta-, and para-difluorbenzenes hexafluorbenzene, pentafluoraniline, and pentafluorphenol -- synthesized at the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry, Siberian Department, Academy of Sciences USSR. Mice 5-6 months old were intoxicated with fumes of the fluorine compounds in a special chamber. Exposure time was two hours. The mice were observed for 24 hours. The author concludes that fluorination of benzene intensifies the narcotic properties of the compound without essentially changing its toxicity. Fluorination of aniline and phenol intensifies the toxicity of the compounds with a notable change in the clinical aspects of poisoning, in that the neurotoxic effect is intensified. Author
