Abstract:

The effort is a continuation of previous work to determine the variability, among aircraft of the same type, of the current induced in an electro-explosive device when subjected to an electromagnetic environment. During the preceding phase, two A4E aircraft were subjected to test and a conceptual model developed to explain the current response in the 4 to 26 Mc region. The present program has attempted to refine this model such that it may be interpreted in a quantitative sense. An additional A4E was subjected to test, firing circuit impedance measurements refined, and a parametric investigation of the effect of perturbation of the firing circuit and weapon impedances on the behavior of the induced current conducted.
