Abstract:
According to available data the host range of Ixodes persulcatus amounts to 206 vertebrate animal species related to various systematic categories. The most prominent role in feeding all stages of ticks is attributed to the group of main hosts which is responsible for and provides the existence of tick nidi. Additional hosts are of subordinate importance, but during some years individual species of this group act as basic representatives. The set of the main host species in any forest area in rather limited and ranges from 27 species in the west areal of I. persulcatus to 35 vertebrate animal species in the Far East. Only the group of main hosts and some species related to the additional subordinate sub-group play a certain role in the epizootology of nidi of tick-borne encephalitis. Author
