Abstract:
The lysis reaction of chick erythrocytes in Tula Oblast was utilized only as a subsidiary method for approximate diagnosis of HFRS, with subsequent careful clinical examination of patients in order to solve the problem of a definite diagnosis. The annular precipitation reaction with urine, utilized for early diagnosis of Botkins disease infectious hepatitis, was tested. Twelve samples of urine were taken from patients, among them, 7 samples of urine were taken during the febrile period of illness. Each sample of urine was superimposed on blood serum taken from convalescent patients ill with HFRS. No formation of annular precipitation was revealed in these urine samples. In order to confirm the HFRS diagnosis, a CF test was proposed in which serum of a patient taken on 2nd and 3rd day of illness served as antigen, while diagnostic immune sera were taken from convalescent and from recovered HFRS patients 21 to 72 days from onset of illness. Sera taken from 2 patients on day 6 and 9 of illness was examined. The result obtained in CF test with sera taken on day 6 of illness was positive by 4 and 3, while with sera taken on day 9, by 3 and 2. During clinical examination, diagnosis of HFRS was confirmed in both patients. Author
