Abstract:
The vector of CHF in Astrakhan Oblast, as in Crimea, proved to be Hyalomma pl. plumbeum Panz. ticks. The most important role in feeding immature stages of this tick belongs to rooks. Rooks are very numerous in regions with CHF incidence in Astrakhan Oblast. This fact is not characteristic of CHF foci in Crimea. In addition to rooks, 20 other bird species, as well as hares, also participate in maintaining larval and nymphal ticks in Astrakhan Oblast. Adult Hyalomma ticks feed mainly on domestic cattle. Study of seasonal dynamics of numbers and attacks by ticks were conducted in a natural focus, close to rook settlements. Ecological problems of the CHF vector require further investigations. Author
