Abstract:
Results are presented of experimental investigations of the X-ray absorption K-spectra of iron in certain polyferrocenes and of the calculation of effective charges on the central atom and ligands in these compounds. The influence of polymerization on the character of distribution of electron density in the molecule was also studied. Substances investigated were polyferrocene, polybutylferrocene, polydibutylferrocene, polyamylferrocene, and polydiisopropylferrocene. As a result of the experiments a new method is offered for the treatment of X-ray absorption spectra which allows one to determine the ratio etan without decomposition of the spectrum into components. The experiments also enabled an estimate to be made of effective charges concentrated on atoms of metal in compounds and clarified the direction of their change in the species of polymers studied.
