Corporate Author:

Report Date:
1968-04-01
Abstract:
The purpose of this program is to design an electronically tuned, VHF receiver tuner to determine the feasibility of using thin-film microelectronics to accomplish all receiver functions in the next generation of VHF tactical radios. Two developmental feasibility models are being fabricated and tested to ensure compliance with the performance requirements. During this, the third quarter, the masks for the thin-film deposition process were manufactured circuits were deposited and probed and, a complete hybrid thin-film electronically tuned receiver tuner was constructed. This report tells about mask design layout revision and contains in the Appendix a data packet that describes layouts and schematics as well as resistor and capacitor design parameters and other information necessary to the thin-film manufacturing process. Component layout is described as is the technique for making mask drawings and mask manufacturing. Thin-film manufacturing testing techniques are described. The design and sequence of manufacturing of the complete receiver tuner are described. A schematic diagram and layout of the resistor divider network and a photo of an assembled high-band receiver tuner are shown. Author
