Abstract:
A wide range of wire and cable sizes can be processed continuously with various engineering techniques. The choice of technique depends on the wire geometry and beam energy. These two factors also significantly affect the process efficiency, and hence the production rate and cost. Single-sided treatment is restricted to very small wires, and the efficiency is very low. Double bombardment, however, can be used on a wide variety of wire sizes. It improves the efficiency markedly. Rotary treatment increased the efficiency further, and is most suitable for large cables. Inclined-angle processing with a low beam energy in double bombardment is the most efficient way for thin insulation. Author
