Corporate Author:

Report Date:

Abstract:
Developments are discussed in the field of miniature coaxial cables which have led to important improvements in the physical and electrical properties of these transmission lines. Primarily, the advantages have been obtained through the use of irradiated foam polyolefin dielectrics having extremely high strengthweight ratios and low dielectric constants. Together with this, the introduction of jacketing materials of irradiated modified polyolefin has provided light weight, high temperature, flame-retarded, flexible insulating coverings. Continuing developments in the field of polymer chemistry and radiation technology promise further improvements in the properties of coaxial cables. Author
