Abstract:
Applying a series expansion of Laguerre polynomials in the solution of the plasma kinetic equation, in which Coulomb collisons are described by Fokker-Planck collision term and electron-neutral collisions by the Boltzmann collision term, elements of a 20 x 20 determinant compared to 3 x 3 obtained by Landhoff and 4 x4 by Shkarofsky were obtained for equilibrium plasma for the electron-electron and electron-ion contributions. At present convergence studies on dc and ac electric conductivity indicate slow convergence with increasing size of the determinant and, as a surprising feature, an oscillating solution as a function of the size of the determinant.
